I have setup my private server and got the ports forwarded for when Notch lets loose the files. I will be busy playing this for the next week I would say.

We opened a public MineCraft server a few weeks back. Its fun and all, but it seems like some want to build cool things, and others just want to destroy others work. So we wanted to try something else that would protect the hard working players.

So we decided to launch another MineCraft server. We set up the new server to be private. The idea is that people start playing on the public server, and if they build cool stuff and respect the other players we will promote them to the other server. We hope this will keep the good players and filter out the bad ones.

You will need a MineCraft account, otherwise it will just generator a private game where you will be alone.
